James A. Paone, II and his partner Jay McGovern are proud to present New Jersey Ethics, a roundtable discussion for WestEd. The program covered a variety of topics including the workings of the ethic system with practice pointers and an interactive discussion of how the system works and how to navigate the system.
They also had a discussion on the ethical considerations, pitfalls and perimeters of representing an organization as a client including, but not limited to, where Counsel’s primary duties lie and the workings and application of the Litigation Control Group Rule.
Lastly, they touched upon the Rules of Professional Conduct which govern a lawyer’s responsibility for non-lawyer staff and some of the ethical considerations that staff in law firms have when dealing with client confidences, client property, opposing counsel and the Court. That discussion stressed the need for training on a regular basis for staff members in order to keep pace with changes in the law.
We hope that you find it informative and helpful.
